Hello all!
It’s been a little while since we have added a feature into our ‘City Guide Series’. Here at Charlotte London we love to travel, and we love to keep on the beat of what is new and fun in each city. Since out most recent collection is the Hong Kong Collection, we thought we’d focus on a few of our favourite spots to have tea and other Chinese delicacies on your next visit!
For Hong Kong, we decided to keep it a little more traditional. Though the city is stuffed with cocktail bars, dim sum eateries, dai pa dongs, cha chaan tengs and other speciality restaurants, we thought the classic tea house is a great place to start our journey.
Our first recommendation is the gorgeous Lock Cha Tea House. Nestled in Hong Kong Park, this tea house is right next to the Hong Kong Museum of Art. You can have traditional tea served with vegetarian dim sum, for a light lunch or an afternoon snack. We’d highly recommend this cute tea house for your stop over in HK.
Luk Yu Teahouse and restaurant
This restaurant, down a busy side street in Central district, is certainly worth making a visit to. It’s a unique part of Hong Kong history, and has been around since 1933. They serve quality tea along side tasty dim sum, but do be warned, they are something of a tourist stop. Still, well worth the visit for the traditional Hong Kong experience and decor, this teahouse makes the top of our list for traditional Hong Kong dining.
For a less traditional, but still cute and cosy, Chinese tea room experience, check out Teahkha. This tearoom is in a very traditional neighbourhood already, and is right by Man Mo temple and Hollywood road where you can find several stores with little Chinese trinkets. This teahouse is the perfect stop off for some delicious and fresh tea and tasty cakes to keep you well fuelled for your shopping.
For a more ‘live like an actual local’ experience, Teahkha is a great stop off. We would recommend any of their delicious green tea desserts.
And there you have it! We hope you enjoy our top picks for traditional tea houses in Hong Kong!
